The wood violets grow in the woods on the far shore, here in the Irish Hills. The Hills are in the northwest corner of Lenawee County, between here and Lansing. Lansing comes into it because of a story I was reminded of at dinner this evening. I could have done without that reminder. Many years ago I drove a state car to a meeting in the Capital. That evening on the way back I stopped and took a walk where the violets grow. I had a hole in my pocket. The car keys are still out there in the woods somewhere. My wife got into it because she drove me back to get the car after I hitched into town. I'm not sure why that came up on the day I posted the violet. Strange on a number of levels!
