Here we reprise Mississippi's other state flower, the magnolia.  As with the coreopsis, they didn't pick a specific species.  But among Mississippi magnolias, it pretty much goes without saying.  On the other hand, Mississippi flower lovers (or maybe just lovers) are fortunate to have a variety of southern Magnolias.  And coreopsis.  There are six magnolia species, and a dozen coreopsis.

Did we get to Mississippi in a hurry?  That's because Maryland's black-eyed Susan, Michigan's apple and dwarf lake iris, and Minnesota's showy ladyslipper have already appeared as daily postings.
