We gave a party and no one came
Yesterday was a volunteer work day at Ives Fen Preserve. Chuck put out a call for families to bring young children for a chance to experience nature. Sad that we weren't surprised when no one took us up on it. Fortunately, many will be exposed to nature in other times and places. For instance, I'll be leading nature walks for kids at Hidden Lake Gardens next month. Do children without experience with the wonders of plants lose the ability to really see them? What would that be like, to be able to look and not see?
