Variations on sulphurflower
Eriogonum umbellatum is quite variable. Here you see var. major, which is close to white, and a little taller. It has not been reported from CA. Sulphurflowers don't meet many of the criteria for becoming part of the herbal lore. But they sure nail it when it comes to being easily available, and recognizable. They were much used for medicine by Indians. The Blackfoot tribe also made tea from the leaves.
