yellow yelloweyed grass
Here's a more normal color of Xyris ambigua, although not quite the typical deeper yellow. This species was used by the Seminole to treat colds and other respiratory problems. It is one of the larger species, but only about knee high, with flowers about a half inch across. The round heads on tall thin stalks are distinctive. Many flowers grow from each head, one or two at a time, lasting only one day each.
