Wood sage

Here's another shot of wood sage, taken very near today's rose of Plymouth. In the south there's a variety that is somehow different than the one that grows up here in the north. This one looked just enough different that I think it is probably their variety hypoleucum. But so far I haven't found a description of the differences that would earn it that distinction. This was a very cooperative individual, growing in front of shade to give us that nice dark background. It's always fun to visit this scentless mint, with the odd pink flowers that turn cream as they age.
