Mixing sunflowers

Sunflowers can seem like a relatively straightforward bunch.  Not necessesarily!  Hybrids are not uncommon, and can make sunflower identification very challenging.  The one shown here seemed to be a cross between pale leaf sunflower and woodland.  Features were intermediate except that the plants were very much taller than typical woodland.  In the years that I observed them, they never produced seed.  Both presumed parents grew within a few meters of this clone.
