The answer was no! I took a walk around the ponds at Ives Preserve yesterday, to see if there is any water lettuce or water hyacinth. Someone dumped some of those invasives there last year. Between our efforts to retrieve them, and the very cold winter, the problem seems to have been solved. And it's always very satisfying to walk that area, to see nature returning to the gravel pit. It has become a terrific spot for late summer and fall wild flowers. Included in the show now are several goldenrods (here is gray goldenrod), New England aster, Indian grass, tall and common boneset, blue lobelia, ladies'-tresses and others. Park in the lot at Raisin Center Hwy. and Sutton Rd. and take a walk!
