A former mayor of Adrian is starting an effort to set a record for the most Christmas trees in a city. We have a terrific display each year in Riverside Park, organized by the local Civitan service club. If successful, this will not be our first mention in Guiness. And stop me if I've told this story before! Years ago I found this black ash in a city park. The largest of its kind! The pro who kept the Michigan list of champion trees came down and verified it, but got different measurements. A few years after, that part of the list was published by Guiness. That was the same year I realized it was actually a blue ash. So, my world record mistake! The champion black ash was actually growing about fifty yards farther into the woods. Two champs, both now dead from emerald ash borers.
