Just in time?

Firecrackerbush appeared today partly as a segue to Texas, and Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer. Herr Lindheimer was born in Frankfurt, Germany on May 21, 1801. He gained a degree in philology (yeah, I had to look it up too, and can identify with him) from the University of Bonn. A young rebel, he eventually had to hit the road. Adventures later, including a shipwreck, he arrived for the Battle of San Jacinto on April 26, 1835. The battle was fought on April 25. He settled in the now liberated hill country of Texas, and lived a long illustrious life discovering the plants and animals of America, and particularly Texas. Many species are named after him, including Lindheimer's beeblossom, which appears again here.
