Wildflower Eden wouldn't be complete without . . .

I've always thought timber rattlers were one of the more attractive of their kind. This species was the very first one I met. At age seven or eight a family friend showed up at the house with a road kill. He taught me how to skin it and cure the skin. Although someone insisted the head be removed first. Amazing that Albert got away with that. Neither parent was at all comfortable with snakes. Maybe that was part of why I got interested? After that evening, we made a lot of stops to visit with them because of my interest. But ultimately plants are a lot easier to find, easier to get close to, and of course safer!
