More pistils from asters

Yesterday we saw pistils that barely divided at the tips. Here's the other extreme. This Joe-pye-weed has many fewer flowers in a head than the thistle. So it divides its pistils all the way back to the flower tube. Now it can kind of wave them around to cover more territory and contact more pollinators. And even use them as part of the show to attract those pollinators.
