Unanswered willow question.

It looks like willows are more complicated than I realized. I always figured since they don't have petals, they must be wind pollinated. And they bloom in the early spring with all those other wind pollinated trees. But this season the willows I've seen including a lot of buzzing bees (or other bugs). So what's up? This dwarf pussywillow had lots of little attendants. But the nearby clone of female plants seemed relatively lonely. Don't know what's up there.
