Up north

On my way north, particularly if I'm going to come out from under the bridge, I like to stop at Headlands to get a quick dose of 'up north'. It's a county park/preserve just west from Mackinaw City. A very nice place to see northern habitats and their flowers. This time Lake Huron tansy was blooming on the Lake Michigan shore. This subspecies grows around our lakes and in Canada. To see the other subspecies you have to go farther north to the Yukon. I'll gladly enjoy this one. Here at the southern edge of its range it is a threatened species.
