Here's a closer look at northern ragwort. Unlike the wildflower page image, this one is from the UP foray. This particular plant had longer ray flowers than most that I've seen. Packera was formerly included in Senecio, as were numerous other genera. Among that tribe are at least 167 species in North America north of Mexico. Worldwide there are more than 3200. And if ever there was a bunch you cannot tell apart just by looking at their flowers, this is it.
