This is Virginia water-horehound. It is listed as threatened in Michigan. I found a few plants growing with the winged monkey-flowers last weekend. This plant is very common in floodplain forest throughout our county. Its unusual to visit such an area without seeing this. If the listers here followed my advice, they would drop it from the list. That does happen. The Michigan list of protected species is very fluid. If I counted right, 95 plants have been added to the list since the first one in 1977. And 85 have been dropped.
