Flowers gone wild!

This is a wild ox-eye (Heliopsis helianthoides) in a preserve in southern Ohio. These flowers look very much like one of those Coreopsis cultivars. This plant's pollinators clearly brought some genes of a garden variety back to the wild. These plants have so far been allowed to persist in a small patch in that preserve. Can't blame them, I would probably have left this one be too!
