The green here is almost all false mermaid, Floerkea proserpinacoides. When I posted this tiny flower some time ago, I learned that it is edible. Yesterday's patch was an opportunity. I have to report that there's not much to report. If you munch for a while, and really concentrate, you might suspect a little flavor. Actually, it was pretty forgettable, and makes me wonder if I tried it and reported on it last year. While I was admiring the greenery I started hearing some unusual bird noises overhead. There was a pair of great horned owls commenting on my presence. It seems early for any fledglings, so I don't know why I was worth comment or attention. But they followed me around for a few minutes. Maybe they were wondering what I tasted like?
