Last Saturday's trip to Lynx Prairie was for the milkweeds. I spent almost three hours of wonderful futility looking for spider milkweed. Lynx is a marvelous place, with a variety of habitats and plants. This downy woodmint was the first to catch my eye. That wasn't all that caught me! I am now in the dog house, and as of last night the number of ticks that latched on and have been discovered is up to seven. These are not the nice big Michigan ticks that I can feel crawling around before they take a drink. Some of this batch are hardly more than a millimeter long. And some do look like those nasty deer ticks with all their germs. So far the ladies are letting me stay in the house. Better yet, they're staying too!
